Pit Concept preview

Pit

Text only · not a personThe car nerd in your texts

Send a listing. Get what it should go for and a full vet sheet back. Talk cars, tell it the car you're hunting, guess auction hammers against it, or add it to your car group chat. It lives in iMessage, so there's no app.

What it does

Four jobs.
One text thread.

01 · Talk cars

Talk cars. It knows your garage.

Like your car group chat, minus the waiting. News on the models you care about, new videos and podcasts from the car creators you follow, and local meets and Cars & Coffee picked for what you drive.

A couple of texts a day at most, mornings and evenings, each with a one-line take. Never a bare link. Meets come from public calendars. Opinions are labeled as opinions.

iMessage thread with Pit at 8:05 PM: 'New Spike's Car Radio: Jay Leno on spinning a Carrera GT at 190 mph. 56 min', a link preview for the episode, and 'Still the scariest Porsche ever made?' The user replies asking for the next Harris video, and Pit says it watches Doug, Spike, Matt and Harris and only texts the ones that hit your cars.

02 · Watch

Tell it the exact car you're hunting.

Year, body, gearbox, miles, how far you'll drive. Pit watches and texts you when one lists, with a note on why it matters and the link to the listing. Reply "yeah do it" and you get the vet sheet.

Porsche, BMW M, Audi RS, even watches: it follows whatever you own or hunt. It links out to listing sites. It doesn't copy them.

iMessage thread with Pit: 'New 993 C2 coupe, 6-speed, just listed: [54k] mi, Pine Valley, CA.' followed by a listing alert card marked SAMPLE reading JUST LISTED, a link preview marked SAMPLE DATA, and 'Want a vet sheet?'

03 · Vet sheet

Send any listing. Get the number, then the vet sheet.

Paste a link or a screenshot. The first text is the short take: what it should go for, whether it's priced right, and one red flag. The full vet sheet lands right behind it, one card you can read in ten seconds and forward to the group chat.

  • PriceWhat it should go for and whether the ask is right, with a dated source, or no number at all
  • Red flagThe one thing to check first
  • IssuesKnown problems for that model and year
  • AskWhat to ask the seller before you drive out
  • PPIWhat to check at the pre-purchase inspection
  • RecallsOpen recalls from the NHTSA lookup
iMessage thread with Pit. After the user asks 'thoughts?' about a listing, Pit replies with a SAMPLE price take: should go for $92–104k on recent sold comps, at $98.5k it's priced right. Then one red flag, nothing on the secondary air system, and the full vet sheet card marked SAMPLE for a 1997 911 Carrera (993) with the price range on top, red flags, what to ask the seller, PPI checks and recalls.

04 · Guess the hammer

Guess the hammer.

Send a Bring a Trailer or Cars & Bids auction. Pit calls the final price, you make your guess, and it texts you the result when the auction closes. Closest wins, and it keeps score.

It links out to auction sites. Results come from the public auction page.

iMessage thread with Pit: '(SAMPLE) My call: $41k. Stick, records, subframe done.' followed by a Guess the hammer card marked SAMPLE for a 2004 BMW M3 coupe with Pit's call of $41k and 'Your guess: reply with a number'. Pit asks 'Your call? Closest wins.' The user replies '38', and Pit says 'Locked. You 38, me 41. Closes around 7:30.'

How it works

No app.
Just a number.

  1. Text the number

Say hi. Tell it what you drive and what you're after.

  2. Save the contact

Pit sends its contact card. One tap and it shows up with its helmet in your Messages list.

  3. That's it

It's iMessage-native. Nothing to download, no account to make.

  4. Add it to the group chat

Optional. Add Pit to your car group chat. It only speaks up when it has something worth saying: a listing someone drops, an auction to guess, or a question for it.

It's an AI, not a person, and it says so. Text STOP to end texts, DELETE to wipe what it knows.

iOS new-contact sheet for Pit, AI car nerd, with the orange helmet avatar, a mobile number marked SAMPLE, and a note: I'm an AI, not a person. Text STOP to end texts, DELETE to wipe what I know.
